A Short Drive, A Completely Different Landscape

Most people plan a Grand Canyon trip and only later discover that some of the most photographed landscapes in Arizona sit a couple of hours north, around Page. Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Lake Powell are close enough to add to an existing itinerary, and distinct enough that they do not feel like more of the same.

It is also worth knowing that Antelope Canyon sits on Navajo Nation land and is managed by Navajo Nation Parks and Recreation, not the National Park Service. It operates on its own schedule, independent of the national park system. Plans around the Grand Canyon can shift with weather, construction, or seasonal closures. This corner of the Navajo Nation keeps its own calendar.

Page is roughly two and a half hours from the Grand Canyon South Rim, which makes it a comfortable day trip or an easy overnight stop on a wider Arizona and Utah loop.
